The 31st Annual John Druecker Memorial Rhododendron Show & Plant Sale will take place Saturday May 3, 2008 from 1:30 to 5:00; Sunday May 4, from 10:00 to 4:00. Entries to the juried show (over 700 last year) will be accepted at the show local, Dana Gray Elementary at 1197 Chestnut Street, Fort Bragg, CA 95437, on Saturday from 7:00 to 10:00 AM. Assistance will be available to those entering flowers to complete the short entry form. Event sponsor, the Noyo Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, is proud to announce the introduction and show sale of Mendocino Gold (see photo) a recently registered plant by the late Dr. Len Charvet and grown for production by local Descanso Nurseries. It is a charming, regionally hardy, yellow hued hybrid. Educational displays on the propagation of rhododendrons will elaborate this year’s theme: “I Was A Baby Too”. Fort Bragg growers Celeri & Son, Love Ericaceae and Forest Lane Nursery will also be on hand to sell and help select the perfect plants for your yard as well as answer gardening questions.
