| Ford House Visitor Center |
| The Ford House, run by the Mendocino Area Parks Association, was built in 1854 for Jerome Bursley Ford and his new wife. Learn about the history of the Ford family and about the history of the village of Mendocino at the Ford House. A museum as well as a Visitor Center, a stop at the Ford House is essential to any visit to Mendocino. In 1986, the Ford House operations were handed over to the Mendocino Area Parks Association, which has docent and volunteer programs that enable the Ford House to be open on a regular basis. The Ford House is more than a historic home and Visitor Center, it is an interpretive center for the beautiful and unique natural environment of the area and its district parks, and an educational center that informs residents and vistors of the history of Mendocino and the surrounding areas. Its gallery exhibits works of local artists--works that are appropriate to the seasons and that have an environmental theme. |
