A cappella night with The Acafellas & River
[details]
- The Mendocino Stories and Music Series will feature The Acafellas and River on Saturday, October 27, for an exciting evening of a capella music, all vocals without instrumental accompaniment. The Acafellas septet is the Mendocino Coast’s favorite men’s a capella group. The members of River, a women’s trio, also sing together in the Mendocino Women’s Choir. Music starts at 7:30PM at the Mendocino Hotel.
With music from Mozart to the Beatles and Broadway to the Balkans, River will open the show. Cynthia Frank conducts the Mendocino Women's Choir and runs Cypress House, a local book production and publishing company. Sari Scanlon works as a water treatment operator for Feiner Fixings. She is also a part-time caregiver and property manager. Carolyn Carleton is a rug weaver, dyer, textile designer and owner of Carleton Designs, a handweaving studio in Elk.
Singing together since 2004 with musical roots in classical music, The Acafellas have grown and branched into hot gospel, cool jazz, classic rock, doo-wop and R&B. They are a hometown group with day-jobs: doctors, lawyers, contractors, architects, innkeepers, and so forth. The Acafellas are Jim Ehlers, Eric Hillesland, Jim Jackson, Jason Kirkman, Joe Rosenthal (director), and Sam Waldman.
All Ages Welcome. Bistro menu and drinks are available as soon as the doors open at 6:30PM. Sliding scale at the door $15 - $12. For more info call Pattie at 707-937-1732 or www.mendocinostories.com/events.html
