• 7:30 pm -9:30 pm : "The B Team" and Sue Sisk with Rick Banker [details]
Our local musicians love to play music together, in unlimited combinations. Mendocino Stories and Music Series will feature two such collaborations on Friday, October 5. All accomplished musicians in their own right – sassy and original Sue Sisk with Rick Banker will open for “The B Team” -Richard FienBop, Buddy Stubbs and John Bush. Music starts at 7:30PM at the Mendocino Hotel. The B team plays a guitar driven mix of old faves and original tunes in a rockin’ alt country ska folk reggae blend with a hint of afro pop just for flavor. Somewhat reclusive Fienbop makes another foray in the Series with a collection of quirky toe tappers. He is joined by John Bush, one of the most versatile and in demand multi instrumentalists on the coast and Buddy Stubbs - jazz, r&b, blues, afro pop, ska, folk, country, bluegrass – it’s all just music to him. Joining them are percussionist/drummer Claudia Paige and a rare appearance from whiz studio guitar player Bobby Cutler. Chicago born singer and guitarist, Sue Sisk arrived in San Francisco in the summer of ’71, singing rock ‘n’ roll, gospel and jazz. Her original tunes reflect these diverse influences, moving from ballads to jump up blues boogies. Sue found her home in our coastal community in the mid 80’s and works as an RN at the Mendocino Coast District Hospital. Joining Sue on guitar, her sideman Rick Banker moved to the coast 4 years ago from the Bay Area where he played with The Gumbo Band for twenty-five years. Rick will be on guitar and vocals and “He sho’ do love the blues.”. All ages welcome. Doors open at 6:30 PM with a bistro menu and full bar. $15 - $12 at the door.
